Episode 1: Carl Tanzler and his Undying Love

In our very first episode we discuss the good doctor, Carl Tanzler, and his undying love for Elena Hoyo’s. Carl is a native German who spent the first half of his life becoming well educated and sailing off to Australia. During his time in Australia, he became a POW. Once released, he stopped off in Germany, was married, and had two children. And that’s when the real story begins. Carl immigrated to the United States looking for a new life and a promised love. After settling down in Key West, Florida, Carl met Elena Hoyos while working at the local naval hospital and he knew it was love at first sight. Surprisingly, the 21-year-old Elena found no interest in the grandfatherly doctor. But that didn’t stop him from trying to cure her consumption. Unfortunately, Elena succumbed to the disease, but Carl wasn’t willing to let her go. In a delusional state, Carl stole Elenas body and spent the next several years trying to reanimate her so that they could be together forever.
